Staying on the Wii Fit

A while back my wife was getting on me about getting back in shape, taking care of my heart and all that jazz. I was having none of it. Celery every day, oat bran, running? Really, why would someone run when they could walk, or better yet, drive?

Then she bought the Wii, and got a great deal on it too at the DubLi auction site too. She convinced me to start playing tennis with her, then to the boxing, which I loved, and eventually, I was on the Dubli network again, looking for the next step up, the Wii Fit Balance board.

I bought it off of DubLi at an outstanding price and got started as soon as it arrived. The running had me sweating, the yoga bending, the strength training growing...but the balance exercises, those were the most fun. Personally, my favorite is the one where you roll down the river in a bubble. It took some getting used to, it is amazing how hard it is to balance when you are our of shape.

I learned that there was something to staying in shape. It really does make you feel better, plus, my wife worries less about the strength of my heart and lungs. Now I would never say that I enjoy the celery, but I do enjoy staying on the Wii fit Board.

Now, back to DubLi to find the rest of the fitness challenge hardware and software for my Wii ... once you get on it, you won't get off!

I have also found mingle for Agile software very helpful in my projects but one thing I wish Mingle had that causes a major gap in my regular status reports is the ability to correlate many user stories to a project.

ThoughtWorks, Rally, VersionOne, or Microsoft's Team System 2008, it would be very helpful to have a large monitor or fatscreen on the wall with your cards or a dashboard (with burndown, etc) as the information radiator.

This tool helps get development groups off the white board, but not necessarily for Agile, more for software development process. Although I can see some important Agile practices applications being made easier through it.

We use Mingle internally and it's got some great features. The card wall is an office favorite as it shows every project in progress as well as who has touched it. It also includes historical data regarding the touch.
